SCAM ALERT! I received a letter from this firm requesting that I settle a debt of nearly $40,000.00, purportedly left by a deceased person who shared part of my surname, but is no relation. They clearly hoped that I would be stupid enough to fork over that sum without asking any awkward questions. Whether it is the firm itself or someone using their letterhead for fraudulent purposes, it is fraud nevertheless. If you have received a similar request, DO NOT PAY!

For people that are too brainless to understand, if you are an executor/trustee of an estate and these guys are owed money from credit products, if money is in the estate you have to pay off the debts owed FROM the estate before you get the rest of whatever is left over. If you don't and creditors (not just these guys) find out there was money in there at the time that could have covered their debts, you can and will be sued if you refuse to pay.

Thanks for making the process a little bit easier in a hard time is all I can say.

SCAM / POTENTIAL FRAUD BEWARE
Received a voicemail from what sounded like an AI generated recording of a woman's voice (Denise). They mention that they're calling in relation to an estate/deceased relative. Do not believe them and do not provide any information to them, not even your name. Upon searching on the Quebec Entreprise Number Registry (NEQ), the main address of this fraudulent business is in Ontario. When I verified the address, it is literally a warehouse. I do not understand how this scam has not yet been shut down. If you receive a call from them, report it to the Canadian government (visit their website on ways to report).

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THESE PEOPLE. They are third party interloper. They will call you if someone you know dies and demand money and make threats. They will send you a NOTICE and try to say it is a BILL. This is GROSS NEGLIGENCE EQUALLING FRAUD. Demand proof of a lawful two-party contract bearing either your signature as executor or the signature of the deceased that allows them to act as a third party. Demand proof of debt, and demand a BILL according to the Bills of Exchange Act. They DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO ISSUE ONE. I have this in writing from them. You are under NO OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER TO PAY THESE PEOPLE. If there is a debt, set the debt off with the original creditors or debtors, not Phillips and Cohen.

They also use bots with scripts to artificially inflate their google reviews. At the very least, I take the time to write each negative review of these fraudsters individually.

When they call to harass you after someone dies, ask them for proof of a lawful two-party contract bearing either your signature or the signature of the deceased. They will send a NOTICE that fraudulently attempts to pass itself off as a bill. This is GROSS NEGLIGENCE EQUALLING FRAUD. Demand proof of debt. Demand a bill according to the Bills of Exchange Act. When I reminded them that they were acting in a way that I considered GROSS NEGLIGENCE EQUALLING FRAUD, they were quick to "suspend collection activities" on my father's account. If there is a debt, set it off with the debtors or creditors directly. Do not pay these people, no matter what they threaten you with.

Ps- they use bots and scripts to keep their google reviews high. Guess what, guys? Two can play that game.... You won't rip anyone off if I can help it.

This would be a 0 star review if it was possible. Somebody from this company called my mother about my deceased father's estate. They left a file number on voicemail, but when the call was returned, they wouldn't tell us anything about what the file is about. They were attempting to scrape personal information about my mother, father, their location etc. Please read all reviews on this company before interacting with them. BBB also has reviews posted on this company and their antics. Dealing with them really feels like they are trying to get a bunch of personal information from you and the interaction feels shady.

Third party interlopers. Ask for proof of debt, lawful two party contract and a bill according to the Bills of Exchange Act. Remind them that passing a notice off as a bill is gross negligence equalling fraud. Oh, and scroll through the five star reviews- they use bots to artificially inflate the google reviews. Cause that isn't sketchy at all, right?

This company called me to inform me that a family friend passed away. How did they inform me? By leaving the deceased persons personal information and Reference number on my voice mail. I have not had contact with the deceased in many years but was less than pleased to find out about her passing from a staff at this company.

Staff at extention x4413 thank you for ruining my entire day with your disorganization. You contacted me with no clear cause and I'm very disappointed with the lack of confidentiality that was demonstrated by you.
